One of the most recognisable faces of hospitality, Jon Spiteri arrives to The Portrait Gallery with a plethora of experience. Whilst his CV spans over 45 years’ and reads like a list of London’s most iconic dining rooms, he approaches each task with the same fervour and enthusiasm as he did in the 1970s at the likes of Parsons and Joe Allen.
Throughout the 80s he found himself with his finger in the pies of Soho Brasserie, L’Escargot, Le Caprice, Café Pacifico and more, before moving on to open The French House Dining Room and St John Restaurant with Fergus and Margot Henderson. His latest venture saw him open Session Arts Club in Clerkenwell to much praise, recently being named in the top 100 at the National Restaurant Awards.
In the late 2000s, he worked with our own Richard Corrigan as maître d’ at Bentley’s Oyster Bar and Grill and has since collaborated with Searcy’s on a number of projects including The Champagne Bar at St Pancras and St Pancras Grand. He is pleased to rekindle both relationships with the opening of The Portrait Restaurant, and is, as an avid art lover, looking forward to perusing the Gallery and welcoming guests along the way.
